White Wine by Hugel from Alsace, France - regions. Frank, spontaneous, expressive, wonderfully perfumed with a multitude of floral aromas, rose, freesia, mullein, acacia, frangipani and hawthorn, its bouquet is fragrant, fruity and attractively light. Refreshingly clean and dry on the palate, deceptively easy to enjoy, it has a soft, gentle finish with a nicely integrated structure and opulence. Food Match: shellfish, salmon, quiche, pate, fish, Asian cuisine, sushi.
Red Wine by Beaulieu - BV from Napa Valley, California. Full violet-ruby color. Distinctive Rutherford aromas of black cherry, dark olive and mineral scents, combined with an underlying whiff of smoky-vanilla oak mixed with wild blackberry. The flavors echo the nose; olive, black cherry and Rutherford minerality, framed by medium acidity and very suave supple tannin. Medium-full bodied in texture with a fine balance between the alcohol, fruit and tannin, this young wine already drinks well, but has the stuffing to support 6-10 years aging. Food Pairings Delicious with fettuccine in a rabbit and mushroom sauce, veal with demi-glace and green peppercorn sauce, or simply grilled marinated lamb.
Red Wine by Vinum Cellars from California. Petite Sirah is called Pets by veteran grape growers like Vinum Cellars' Ken Wilson. So this wine is dedicated to his pet - Tanker. Dark colored, long legged and bold, this wine has the potential of becoming your best friend. A portion of the profits from Pets will be donated to Vinum's local animal shelter, the San Francisco SPCA.
Ros? Wine by Yalumba from Barossa Valley, Australia. With a fine ruby color, Yalumba Y Series Sangiovese Rose has exotic aromas of raspberries, strawberries and cream with notes of lilac and violets, all with a minerally edge. A succulent mouth feel is enhanced by flavors of strawberry, rhubarb and cinnamon. It opens to a fine dense body of wine with a soft texture that is long and beautifully balanced.
Red Wine by De Martino from Chile, South America. Coming from alluvial soils near the Maipo Valley, this Carmenere is profound and powerful -a multilayer construction of blackberry, chocolate, spices and herb flavors supported by opulent tannins and sharp acidity. Everything about this select-level Carmenere is impressive. It's colorful and wrapped in a cloak of classy oak. The palate is juicy and balanced to a tee, with dark berry flavors busting free. A little young oak emerges on the finish, but it vanishes in short order once you air things out. A wonderful red wine regardless of variety. Wine Enthusiast 92 Points
White Wine by MAN Vintners from South Africa. Tropical fruit, guava and melon aromas, crisp and bold sweet citrus backed by refreshing acidity and minerality characteristic of MAN's coastal vineyards. A versatile food wine to go with most poultry, fish and salad dishes. Also fabulous as an aperitif for a hot summer afternoon.
Red Wine by Cabutto from Piedmont, Italy. Harvested during the second week of September, these Dolcetto grapes are always the very first variety picked each year. A clone selection from a very old vine ensures that this ancient vineyard will live on. For this wine, the juice was left in contact with the skins for 5 days, then fermented it in stainless steel bins at a maximum temperature of 28 C. And now, ancient history repeats itself with another magnificent vintage! The intense ruby red and violet shades surround fragrant notes of roses and grapes. The wine is full-bodied and well-balanced, with a delicate almond aftertaste. Pair it with everyday fare, such as pasta, white meats, and cheeses - and enjoy the simple delights of an ageless Italian treasure!
White Wine by St. Supery from Napa Valley, California. The Muscat Canelli grapes for this wine were harvested at night and in the cool early morning hours of September to maintain the delicate fruit flavors. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were crushed and pressed into chilled tanks for settling. The clean juice was racked and fermentation was initiated in temperature-controlled storage. A long, cool fermentation allowed for excellent flavor retention. After final blending, the wine was stabilized and prepared for bottling. The 2006 Muscato is like a breath of summer in a glass. There is a wonderful aroma of white peach, apricot pear and slight floral finish. The wine is light and delicate yet full of intense flavors of sweet ripe pear and apricots. This is a perfect aperitif for an afternoon gathering.
Red Wine by Penner-Ash from Willamette Valley, Oregon. Black cherry, cassis and black pepper aromas lead into a creamy, broad palate of fresh blackberry, red cherry and violets. A purity of both red and black fruits combined with round tannins provide a lingering finish of baking spice and vanilla.
Red Wine by 2 Brothers from Chile, South America. Two Brothers Winery, a partnership between brothers Erik and Alex Bartholomaus, released their debut wine, Big Tattoo Red 2001, in autumn of 2002 as a way to raise funds for cancer research and Hospice care in memory of their mother, Liliana S. Bartholomaus. Alex Bartholomaus, President and C.E.O. of Billington Imports in Springfield, Va, blended Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Syrah (40%) and Merlot (10%) to create this unique product. Alex then teamed up with his brother Erik, an established world-traveling tattoo artist, to design a fun label that would remind the two of their mother. Erik designed the label and they named their creation Big Tattoo Red. Fifty cents from every bottle sold is donated to the Hospice of Arlington, Va, and other breast cancer research foundations in the name of Liliana S. Bartholomaus. The two sold 13,835 cases of the 2001 debut vintage and raised $83,010 to donate to Cancer research and support. The 2002 vintage was released in June, and the brothers are on track to sell an additional 40,000 cases and donate another $240,000 by the end of next May. It was the Bartholomaus brothers' goal to honor their mother, who lost her battle against cancer three years ago. They wanted to do this in a non-serious yet beneficial way. This fun wine boasts a label with a Fleur de Lys, Liliana's favorite symbol, and its red and black label stands out on any retailer's shelf. This Chilean red is a ripe, easy-drinking wine with smooth flavors that compliment many foods, or can be enjoyed alone. The first release was a big success, but the popularity of this wine soared during 2003, popping up on wine shop shelves and restaurant wine lists nation wide.
